How to Change the Meeting Leader in Bloom Growth

Who can change the meeting leader

• Org admins and meeting admins can hand the leader role to anyone on the attendee list.
• Everyone else who is not currently leading can take the role for themselves.
• If you are leading and you are not an admin, you cannot hand the role off. Hovering over your own avatar shows the reminder Need to change leader? Ask one of your teammates to become the leader.

Note The leader avatar only appears on desktop, so the steps below are not available on a phone or tablet.

Hand the leader role to someone else

For org admins and meeting admins, while the meeting is running:

1. Stay on the Meeting tab. On the right of the meeting top bar, next to Follow leader, find the current leader’s avatar — it carries a small crown.
2. Click that avatar. The Change leader dialog opens.
3. Click the person taking over. The current leader sits at the top of the list, labelled Leader; whoever you pick gets a checkmark on the right.
4. Click Change leader. Cancel closes the dialog and leaves the leader as they were.

Note There is no confirmation message. The crown simply moves to the new leader, and anyone with Follow leader switched on starts mirroring the new leader’s agenda. If the change cannot be saved you will see Failed to update meeting leader.

Take the leader role yourself

1. Click the current leader’s crowned avatar on the right of the meeting top bar.
2. Choose Make myself meeting leader.

In the meeting and Not here yet

When somebody on the attendee list is not connected, the Change leader dialog splits the names into two groups:

• In the meeting — people Bloom can see have the meeting open right now. The current leader is always in this group.
• Not here yet — everyone else, shown dimmed, under the line You can still hand off to someone who has not joined yet.

Nobody is ever removed from the list and every name stays clickable — the split changes the order and the emphasis, nothing else. When everyone is connected there are no headings at all and the list looks exactly as it always has.

How Bloom works out who is in the meeting

• Bloom goes by who currently has the meeting open, not by who ticked the presence box at check-in. The check-in box still works exactly as before and is never overwritten.
• Somebody sharing a laptop in a conference room has no session of their own, so they appear under Not here yet. Pick them anyway if they are the right person to lead.
• One person with two tabs open, or a laptop and a phone, counts once.
• Not here yet means Bloom has seen no recent sign of a connection — not that the person is offline.

FAQ

Can I hand off to somebody who has not joined yet?
Yes. They are listed under Not here yet and can still be picked.

Does the new leader have to do anything?
No. They take over on the page the meeting is already on.

I am the leader, but I do not get the Change leader dialog.
Handing the role to someone else is limited to org admins and meeting admins. Anyone else in the meeting can still take the role themselves with Make myself meeting leader.
