Grouping KPIs Under Another KPI
Keep the KPIs your meeting steers by in view, with supporting KPIs one click away.
When your meeting tracks many KPIs, you can group supporting KPIs under the KPI they feed. The group's lead KPI stays in view, with a count of the KPIs under it, and the supporting KPIs stay tucked away until someone opens the group. Your meeting sees the numbers it steers by first, and the detail is one click away.
note: Your organization may call KPIs by another name, such as Metrics or Measurables. Menu labels use your organization's term; the steps work the same way.
What grouping does and doesn't do
- Grouping only changes how KPIs are displayed. The lead KPI keeps its own scores and goal. It doesn't add up or calculate anything from the KPIs under it, and Sum, Avg, charts and exports are unchanged. To calculate a KPI from other KPIs, use a formula KPI.
- A group is led by a real KPI. That's the difference from a Divider, which is a heading row with no scores.
- Groups belong to one meeting. The same KPI can be grouped in one meeting and not in another.
Group KPIs under a KPI
- In your meeting, go to the KPI section and select the tab (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly) where the KPIs are.
- On the KPI that should lead the group, click the ⋯ (More options) button at the right of the row.
- Select Group KPIs under [KPI name]…
- In the Group KPIs under [KPI name] window, check the KPIs that should sit under it. Use Search KPIs to find a KPI by name.
- Click Save.
The group opens for you after you save. Everyone else in the meeting sees the change right away, with the group closed.
note: Some KPIs in the list may be greyed out. In [KPI name]'s group means the KPI is already in another group; move it out of that group first. Has its own group means the KPI already leads a group, and a lead KPI can't be placed under another one.
Open and close a group
- A KPI that leads a group shows an arrow to the left of its name and a count of the KPIs under it after its name.
- Click the arrow to open the group. The KPIs under it appear right below the lead KPI, each marked with └ in front of its name. Click the arrow again to close it.
- Groups start closed. Opening or closing a group only changes your own view, and Bloom Growth remembers it for this meeting on this browser.
Change or remove a group
- Add or remove KPIs: on the lead KPI, click ⋯ and select Edit KPIs under [KPI name]… Check or uncheck KPIs and click Save.
- Move one KPI out: on that KPI, click ⋯ and select Move out of [KPI name]. It goes back to being a regular row right away.
- Remove the whole group: on the lead KPI, open Edit KPIs under [KPI name]…, uncheck every KPI and click Save.
- Reorder: drag the lead KPI to move the whole group. KPIs inside a group follow the lead KPI in their table order and can't be dragged on their own. Dragging a KPI onto a group doesn't add it to the group; use the ⋯ menu instead.
Rules to know
- One level only. A KPI that is inside a group can't lead its own group.
- Same tab only. The KPIs in a group must be on the same tab (frequency) as the lead KPI. You can't put a Monthly KPI under a Weekly one.
- Who can group: anyone who can edit the meeting's KPIs (the same people who can reorder them). Everyone who can see the meeting can open and close groups.
- If the lead KPI is archived, removed or deleted, the KPIs under it show as regular rows again. If you restore the lead KPI, the group comes back, unless one of those KPIs has started its own group in the meantime.
- If a KPI inside a group is archived or removed, it leaves the group. Changing a KPI's owner doesn't affect grouping.
Where groups appear
- The meeting's KPI section, on every tab, on desktop and on a phone browser.
- Meeting KPI tiles on your workspace (sharing the same open or closed state as the meeting).
- The Quarterly Printout, on the Weekly KPIs page, where every group prints open.
Groups don't appear in your personal KPIs or in KPIs exports, which show every KPI as a regular row.
Troubleshooting
Some of our KPIs disappeared from the meeting. They're probably inside a closed group. Look for a KPI with an arrow and a count next to its name, and click the arrow.
A teammate sees a group open and I see it closed. That's expected: open and closed is saved for each person, on each browser.
A KPI is missing from the list in the group window. It's on a different tab, archived, or it's a Divider.
I don't see the Group option in the ⋯ menu. You need permission to edit the meeting's KPIs. Ask a meeting admin.
I saw "There was an issue grouping these KPIs". Your change wasn't saved. Check that every KPI you selected is on the same tab and isn't already in, or leading another group, then try again.
