Capture O&Os the moment they come up: the O&O Bar

What the O&O Bar is:

The O&O Bar is a slim bar that sits at the bottom of your screen throughout a meeting. It lets you add an opportunity or obstacle to the O&O List the second it surfaces — without leaving the segment you're in.

It's built for one of the most common moments in a Bloom Weekly: a red KPI or an off-track Quarterly Priority reveals the real obstacle, and the team's instinct is to solve it right there. Instead, whoever spots it types one line into the bar, presses Enter, and the meeting keeps moving. The obstacle is safely on the list, waiting for the O&O List segment where the team can 3D it properly.

A note on wording: if your organization uses different terms in Bloom (for example "Issues" instead of "Opportunities & Obstacles"), the bar automatically uses whatever your organization has set.

Where you'll find it

Open any meeting and look at the bottom of your screen. The O&O Bar sits there alongside your other meeting controls, and it has three states:

State

What you see

What it's for

Docked (how it starts)

A single line: Create a quick O&O

Fast capture while the meeting keeps moving

Expanded

Your full O&O List for this meeting

Scanning and tidying the list

Closed

A small O&O button

Getting it completely out of the way

The icons on the right of the bar move you between states:

  • Expand — opens the full O&O List
  • Collapse — shrinks it back to the one-line quick add
  • Close — tucks it away to the O&O button; click that button any time to bring it back
Add an O&O in a few seconds
  1. Click into the bar at the bottom of your meeting screen.
  2. Type the opportunity or obstacle in one line.
  3. (Optional) Use Assign to to name who it belongs to. The list offers the attendees of this meeting.
  4. Press Enter.

It lands on this meeting's O&O List immediately, and anyone viewing that list sees it appear live. Leave the assignee blank if you're not sure yet — ownership is often clearer during Discover anyway.

Scan the list without leaving your segment

Click Expand to open the full O&O List on top of whatever segment you're in. You can open an item to read the details, edit it, and work it just as you would from the O&O List segment.

Two deliberate differences in the expanded view:

  • Star voting isn't here. Prioritizing the list is a whole-team moment that belongs in the O&O List segment, not a side task during KPIs.
  • Nothing opens automatically. You see the list, not an item — so a quick glance doesn't quietly turn into a discussion.
When the bar doesn't appear

By design, in a few places:

  • You're already in the O&O List segment (or a page that includes it). The bar would be redundant, so it steps aside.
  • You're on a phone or tablet. The O&O Bar is a desktop feature. On mobile, add O&Os from the O&O List or the quick-add buttons on your home screen.
  • You're in a Quarterly Alignment meeting. Those have their own flow and don't include the bar.
  • Your access to this meeting is view-only. The bar follows the same meeting permissions as the O&O List — if you can't create there, you can't create here.
  • It isn't switched on for your organization yet. The O&O Bar is being rolled out to organizations in stages. If you'd like it turned on for your team, contact our support team.
Getting the most out of it
  • Capture, don't solve. Five seconds to write it down, then hand the meeting back. Solving is what the 60-minute O&O List segment is for — Discover, Discuss, Decide, in priority order.
  • Use it during Quarterly Priorities and KPIs. That's exactly the "push the biggest obstacle to the O&O list" move the agenda calls for, without anyone switching pages or losing the thread.
  • Name the real problem, not the topic. "Onboarding handoff is losing new clients" gives the team something to 3D. "Discuss onboarding" doesn't.
  • Write it in the moment. An O&O captured live is far more honest than one reconstructed from memory two days later.
  • Close it when you want focus. During a heads-down segment, click Close and bring it back with the O&O button.
Frequently asked questions

Does adding an O&O interrupt anyone?

No. It appears on the meeting's O&O List, and anyone viewing that list sees it show up live. Nobody gets pulled out of what they're doing.

Where exactly does it go?

Onto this meeting's O&O List, ready for the O&O List segment of the same meeting. It isn't added to a plan or another team's list.

Can I assign it to someone who isn't in the meeting?

Not from the bar — it offers this meeting's attendees. To assign anyone else, create or edit the item from the O&O List.

Can we vote from the bar?

No. Star voting lives in the O&O List segment, where the whole team prioritizes together.

Is there a length limit?

Nothing you'll hit in practice. Keep it to one clear line so the list stays scannable when you prioritize.

I can see the bar but can't type in it. Why?

Your permissions for that meeting most likely don't include creating O&Os. Ask your meeting or organization admin to review your access.
